For optimum performance of your Pocket PC, I suggest you check out the "Updates,Patch" section for all that was released for Pocket PC 2002 - which includes through Service Pack 3. Note that for transfer and playing PDA Media content with Windows Pocket Media Player you should apply the Windows Pocket PC Player Version 9, and also on the Home Computer Windows Media Player 9 version. Do not accept the Windows Media Player 9 Upgrade to Version 10. If you did, simply retrograde back to version 9 (only if you experience some difficulties in uploads/downloads from PC to PPC).

Authors used the virus to demonstrate security flaws in the OS. A virus designed to demonstrate security holes in Microsoft's Windows CE operating system but not to cause damage was identified by security companies over the weekend. The WinCE4.Duts.A virus (sometimes known as Dust) only affects devices running ARM processors and infects Pocket PC PE files in the root directory, according to Bucharest-based Softwin S.R.L., which first reported the virus on Saturday. The virus was sent by its authors to antivirus vendors rather than being distributed in the wild and was not designed to propagate on a massive scale, but rather to demonstrate that devices running Microsoft Windows CE can be infected by malicious code, according to Viorel Canja, head of Softwin's BitDefender Labs unit. There are over 17 million Pocket PCs, smartphones, and other Internet appliances currently using the Windows CE operating system, according to Softwin.

As webmaster and former group owner, I have re-launched the PDA Mobile Cafe Yahoo Group with PDA Security as a main theme. I was perhaps the first to promote pda security and remember being called an "alarmist" and the rest that can not be mentioned here. In looking back, perhaps they were some of the first "airbornes" ? What a difference a day has made as it is all action now and talk no longer in pda security world.... So welcome to it ! |
